Marinette Marine has the capacity to build six Littoral Combat Ships at one time and their impressive portfolio includes the U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship, mine countermeasure vessels, and ocean tugs, as well as U.S. Coast Guard icebreakers, buoy tenders, and response vessels. This local shipbuilder has manufactured research vessels and even a Staten Island Ferry. Aside from Marinette Marine, Marinette, WI is known for its friendly people and unique locally owned shops – including a winery! Forgotten Fire Winery is a family business that opened in 2011. Named in honor of the Great Peshtigo Fire of 1871, the winery sits on land located in the town of Peshtigo, though the actual address is in Marinette. Forgotten Fire Winery features award-winning reds, whites, and wines that range from dry to sweet, fruity and even sangrias. Tours are offered on Saturdays at the top of the hour from 11 am to 4.
